Those goddamn americans sure are sensitive about their oh-so-precious pledge of alliegance and its reference to God. The seemingly reasonable, logical conclusion of an American appeals court got all these senators and public reps all beside themselves about how 'stupid' it is. Do the words seperation of church and state sound at all familiar? If the words under god don't somehow relate to religion, maybe I misunderstand what that whole religion thing is all about. I don't really care one way or another about the ruling, but the reaction to it makes me sick. It seems more and more like freedom of religion south of the border is being eroded by the zealots of the religious right. Or, at this point, the religious, christian majority against everybody else. I can only hope this mania stays south of the border. Here is a good analysis of the whole mess.
